Back up and move to a new Mac

Save your services to a file, and bring them back on this Mac or another one.

Export your services

Choose Tools → Export Services… and pick where to save the file. It’s called Labaro Services.json unless you change it. It holds every service you have, with its name, address and settings, in the sidebar’s order.

Three things aren’t in the file:

  • Your sign-ins. You sign in to each service again after importing.
  • Which services are disabled. They all come back enabled.
  • Which services have notifications on. Turn them on again after importing.

Import services

Choose Tools → Import Services… and pick an exported file. Its services are added after the ones you already have. Nothing you have is changed or removed.

  • Services you already have are skipped, so importing the same file twice doesn’t give you two of everything.
  • A different account with the same name is added. For example, a Slack for another workspace is added as Slack (2).
  • Nothing is imported if something’s wrong with the file, such as if it isn’t a Labaro export. Labaro says what the problem is.

When it’s done, Labaro tells you what it added and what was already there.

Move to a new Mac

  1. On your old Mac, choose Tools → Export Services….
  2. Copy the file to your new Mac.
  3. Install Labaro on the new Mac. See Install and first launch.
  4. Choose Tools → Import Services… and pick the file.
  5. Sign in to each service, and turn on notifications for the ones you want them from.

If you don’t have your old Mac, Tools → Detect Services… can find the services you use from your browsers’ history. See Adding services.
