Known limitations

Labaro is young. This is what you’ll run into today.

Signing in

• “Sign in with Google” on Slack is blocked. Google refuses sign-in from apps that show web pages the way Labaro does. Use Slack’s email and password or sign-in link instead. Gmail itself signs in fine.
• Sign-in in a pop-up window doesn’t work. Labaro never opens a second window, so a sign-in that needs one can’t finish.

Installing and updating

• The Mac app isn’t notarized yet. macOS stops the first launch. See Install and first launch.
• Each beta version runs for 30 days. After that, Labaro asks you to download the latest. See Updates and beta expiry.
• Updates aren’t installed for you. Labaro tells you about a new version, but you replace the app yourself.

Platforms

• Mac only for now. The same code runs on Linux and Windows, but only the Mac app is packaged and regularly used today. Linux and Windows builds aren’t released yet.
• macOS 14 or later is needed for separate sign-ins. On older versions, two accounts of the same service sign each other out, and Gmail, Slack, X and Instagram are checked less often while asleep.

Notifications

• A sleeping Gmail, Slack, X or Instagram doesn’t send notifications. Their badges stay current, but notifications only come while they’re awake.
• Other sleeping services can be up to 5 minutes late with theirs.
• Notifications a service sends from a background worker aren’t shown.
• Closing the window quits Labaro, so notifications stop too. Minimize it instead.

Browser features Labaro doesn’t have yet

• Zoom
• Find on the page
• Printing
• Back and Forward
• A reload shortcut. Reload a service from its right-click menu instead.

The app itself

• No option to open at login. Add it yourself in System Settings → General → Login Items.
• The menu bar icon can be hidden behind the camera notch. On a MacBook with a full menu bar, macOS may put it there, out of sight.
• The window’s size and position aren’t remembered. It opens at the same size each time.
